Dr. Liz Hicks is the Founder and Principal of the Girls Academic Leadership Academy (GALA), the first all-girls public STEM school in California, serving grades 6 through 12 within the Los Angeles Unified School District. Under her leadership, GALA's first graduating class achieved a 100% graduation rate and a 98% college-going rate. She holds a PhD in Educational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California and was honored with the Ann Tisch Inspire Award at Student Leadership Network's 2024 WholeGirl+ Education National Conference, recognizing her visionary leadership and lasting impact on educational equity. And these are just a few areas of her work that bring significant value and demonstrate her contribution to STEM education for girls, women-led public-school leadership, and the creation of educational pathways for underrepresented young women.
